Ranks of the Jedi Order
Introduction
The ranks are the core of *<JO>*. They have defined the structure, hierarchy and culture of the Jedi Order from the start, over a decade now. The rank system has been changed only a couple of times, the latest change being the introduction of the Lower Council.

From the start, the Jedi Masters of the Council have been the leading members of the *<JO>*. To help the workload, the Lower Council was introduced in JO 175. Other elder ranks, so to say, have been Jedi Master and Jedi Knight. The apprentices have held ranks Jedi, Apprentice and Padawan Learner. The youngest members, Padawans, are the freshmen in *<JO>*.
Alongside the ranks there are the Honorary Positions of *<JO>*. Ghosts are retired renowned Councillors, whereas Spectres are renowned Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights.
Hopefuls are the recruits not in the Order yet.
Jedi Master of the Council

At the beginning, in JO 64, the Council comprised of three Jedi Masters, the Founding Fathers. As *<JO>* grew in size, so did the Council, to balance the workload. In the early days a new Council member would be selected from the Jedi Masters, with a vote where all Masters and Councillors were allowed to vote. This is the method through which some legendary names such as Master Cosmo and Master Menelaos got their seats.
Nowadays the selection is done solely by the Council, with a vote. The need for a new member in the Council comes from the Council itself, it decides on its own how many members it needs. While there is no official rank you need in order to be considered for a seat in the Council, no one other than a Jedi Master has ever been granted one.
Since the birth of *<JO>* and the Founding Fathers there have been a total of 31 Members of the Council, the newest one being Master Scalarik, who got his seat JO 186 or June 2013.
On the right you can see the first recorded roster of *<JO>* from JO 70's.
Member of the Lower Council

The role of the Lower Council has been a flexible one ever since its inception, in JO 175. The initial need for LC was due to the Council then not being able to be active regularly in SWTOR, giving mandate to Knight Elod-Hora, then Knight Scalarik and Master Narretas to run everyday life in-game, including initiating new members and hosting trials. Knight Elod-Hora felt he was not active enough for the duties and stepped down, whereas Master Narretas was granted a seat in the Council. This left Master Scalarik alone, which led to converting the Lower Council into Council Representatives in JO 184. After Master Scalarik was granted a seat in the Council as well, in JO 186, the Lower Council was left empty and the concept was scrapped.
However, following dropping activity levels, there was again need to re-distribute power among a larger amount of members, in JO 190. This saw the re-introduction of the Lower Council, with Knight Ozymandiaz and Knight Wellkey as its members. The task they faced, however, was huge. The story of *<JO>* in SWTOR was already coming to an end, there was little the two could have done to prevent that.
