God's Gift

God gave me a gift,
More precious than any other,
A friend to uplift
My heart when very sad.

In my heart I cried to God,
"Why must my life be so painful?
Please lead me through this path I trod!"
Not knowing where it would lead.
He looked from above
And sent you to me
In love
To help me through.
This path is not over yet.
There will be more hardships, struggles, and pain,
But my eyes on Jesus are set,
Never to leave Him again.
