How to Find True Fulfillment in Jesus
(printer friendly version)

Let me ask you a few questions: Do you have a real sense of fulfillment today? Would you say that you are truly happy with your life? Or are you finding that nothing really seems to bring you satisfaction or contentment? I know of a man that had a highly successful career, a gorgeous home, multiple cars, a lovely wife, two kids, and tons of extra money, but no matter how hard he worked, no matter how much he gained, he just couldn't escape the fact that something was seriously missing in his life. He had what has come to be known as "the good life" and he often tried to convince himself that he was sincerely happy. "How could life get any better? What else could I possibly want that I don't already have? Can it be that there is something I have missed?"

Is Your Life Filled With Happiness and Joy or Stress and Anxiety?

Yes indeed, he had missed something, and these struggles continued until he came to realize that he had the so-called "good life". but what he didn't have was an abundant life, and this is what Jesus came to give people. He said in John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life and that they might have it more abundantly." This quality of living that Christ offers brings a person true fulfillment and happiness, as well as a real purpose for life, all of which this man didn't have. And not only does Jesus promise to improve our life here in the present time, but He wants to do so much more than that! In John 10:28, Christ spoke these words: "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone pluck them out of my Father's hand."

God Loves Everyone Even Though We Don't Deserve It!

What a wonderful promise! But why does God want to give us such a great gift? Does the Lord really care that much about you and me? The answer is found in Isaiah 43:4 "You are precious in my sight. You have been honorable, and I have loved you." Also notice what God says in Jeremiah 31:3 "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore, with loving kindness I have drawn you." The truth is that the Lord's never-ending love for the human race is far beyond our understanding. We can't even begin to comprehend how much He cares for the people of planet earth.

I've heard people say that God won't love someone unless they're doing their best to be as good as they can possibly be. Have you heard this before? But the Lord Jesus said that His Father "makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends His rain on the just and on the unjust." Matthew 5:45. Here, we can see that the sun and rain represent the rich blessings that the Lord showers down upon people everywhere around the world. It's interesting that both raindrops and sunshine come from above, just as the gifts of God descend from His throne in heaven. God loves all of us, whether we realize it or not.
