Will Our Pets Be In Heaven?

Well, the Bible really doesn't answer this question. We do know that Jesus died to provide eternal life for the human race, but we never read that Christ shed His blood to save the animal kingdom!

At the same time, the Bible tells us that God is concerned about animals: "What is the price of five sparrows? A couple of pennies? Yet God does not forget a single one of them." (Luke 12:6 NLT). And Psalm 145:9, 15-16 tell us that "The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works....The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing." The Lord also wants us to care for them as well: "The godly are concerned for the welfare of their animals, but even the kindness of the wicked is cruel." (Proverbs 12:10 NLT).

But do pets go to heaven? We really can't say one way or the other, but we do know that there will be animals in God's eternal kingdom: "The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, says the Lord." (Isaiah 65:25). We have a similar picture given to us in Isaiah 11:6-9 "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord As the waters cover the sea."

Some people feel that they won't be able to enjoy heaven unless Fido or Fluffy is going to be there too, but I really don't think people need to worry about whether or not they're going to be happy in the eternal joys of paradise! I can guarantee you that nobody will be miserable in heaven: "You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." (Psalm 16:11) "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." (Psalm 84:11). Just get to heaven and I can promise that you won't be disappointed!

Maybe the question we should ask you is "Are your friends and neighbors going to be in heaven and what are you doing to help them get there?" Now that's something to think about!
