Windows 10 + Program Files on another hard drive
« on: April 26, 2016, 05:57 AM »
Anyone here wizardly enough to help me? I have a computer with two hard drives, I want to have windows on C: but all programs, meaning Program Files -directories on D:. Now, I know I could edit the registry to do this, but with Windows 10 this breaks down most of the updates, so I have to keep regediting back and forth to keep Windows up to date.

Same with my parents computer, it's a mess that every time I visit them, I need to edit registry, restart edit again and so on.

Help me tech wizards, please.

I tried that myself, having OS and important stuff on SSD and everything else on HDD. I tried all sorts but it just made difficult and time consuming. So I just now put most stuff on the SSD except big files or games that I don't want on the SSD. That's the best way I found, having the SSD as C and most other stuff installed to D.

I can help you with this as I'm in the process of doing this from my 500 GB SSD to my 1 TB SSD. Let me know what platform is best to chat.
