ESO going Buy2Play- NO mandatory subscription plan!
« on: January 21, 2015, 08:58 AM »
It's going down the same route as GW2- buy the box for the full game, with a new additional currency for purely cosmetic items. A subscription model exists which will give numerous benefits, like all future DLC's free of charge.

It seems to be a lot less vicious than TOR's F2P system, probably because you have to buy the box to play in the first place.

That's pretty good. I was planning on renewing my sub for a month to try it out and see how it's been improved, but I'll wait until it goes subscription-free :D

I've been keeping an eye on the patch notes, and it sounds like it's a completely different game now than when it was released :P

Me too! Hell, the chat bubbles are a huge step in my opinion.

There's something I never thought I'd say.

I've lost last traces of interest in MMORPGs. Now I spend my time flying through galaxy in Elite. Still, I might convince myself to give it a look :D

Well, I must say: I'm really not at all disappointed by this. It's really starting to feel like an Elder Scrolls game in an online setting, rather than a standard MMO with the Elder Scrolls name slapped on it, as it was when first released. ;D

What would you say are the major improvements? What do you still miss?

Animations are much improved, especially lip movement of npc's in conversations.

Quests actually work, which is always nice :P
Some quests have been updated to be doable as a team (so if you're in a party, one member can complete an objective and it's completed for the whole party).

The dye system is great: you unlock dyes by completing various achievements and once a dye's unlocked you can apply it to one of 3 slots on each piece of equipment.

It's now possible to pick up items and pieces of equipment that are lying on the ground, just like in previous TES games, but, if the item is owned by an npc, picking it up is considered stealing and if you're spotted you get a bounty and either have to pay it or get attacked by the guards ;D

Unfortunately, there's still no Thieves' Guild or Dark Brotherhood, but those are coming in a future update.

They're in the process of expanding all the dungeons, making them far more elaborate, but so far they've only done a few, more to come in future updates :P

I recently started playing.

ESO is unlike any other MMO I've ever played. The game is so immersive it's easy to forget that there's other players also playing the game. Knight Tabaet is right, it's more of an Elder Scrolls game, that happens to have other players playing. I really like the gameplay, really fluid and fun. The story is alright, though I'm not getting that typical Elder Scrolls feeling (I hope the addition of the Dark Brotherhood will fix this). Pick it up, come play with us? :)

Atm I'm stuck with Cities: Skylines, but maybe I'll give ESO another go in the near future ;)

Cities: skylines, Elite: dangerous, AC III, Heroes... So many games, so little time... :( Not sure I'll be able to join the fun.

You can do without AC III, so that's already about 20 hours freed up ;)

Can't get on since the other day, game crashes every time I load it. No errors or anything from the game, when I try a second time to load it after using task manager to close the app it crashes my pc to a blue screen which only shows for a second then goes blank. Only does this on ESO.
