Topic: That time of the year again (Web Hosting Renewal)

Hello All,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my brother has to move our site to a new web host. Unfortunately, the new plan also only officially allows one domain, so our "jediorderclan.com" domain will likely redirect to his site soon in a tucked away corner. I just wanted to let you all know so that you weren't alarmed when the URL automatically.

That being said, a the end of this year I was honestly going to see if this was something we wanted to keep going, and if so possibly offload the files/and responsibilities to someone willing to maintain the site. Personally, I think we could probably make due with a discord channel at this point.

Personally I think this forum should always exist as long as we can afford to do so as an archive but in terms of communication I am also in favor of shifting to Discord.

If we do want to keep this around, I can send the files and database to someone who is willing to keep hosting it. It would be fairly straight forward to migrate the files to a new web host. That being said, with some new additions coming in my life, I just don't think I will have the time and patience to keep things rolling when push comes to shove, but with the donations we've received over the years I'm glad to keep it going until the end of the year (with the above mentioned change), but then hopefully I could find someone to pass the reigns to.

We were able to get everything moved over, but had to update the forums due to the php version on the new host being much newer. As such, it completely broke our custom theme and some images. We still have retained the database and everything that goes along with that though, so we're all good there.

Hello,

I can't properly get in to the forums... Every time I log in (on my normal account), it keeps saying "Unable to load the 'main_above' template." I had to create a backup account just to get in to report this.

Any chance someone could take a look at my profile and maybe select me a default theme or something? A custom theme is possibly the case...

EDIT: Or even better, maybe promote this account so I can tinker with my profile myself

I've reset everyone's theme back to the default again and reset the settings as well, let me know if you still can't log in! I removed the custom template from even being selectable so hopefully it should let you in now.

I don't think I could do stomach vanilla JKA - the mods really were amazing for it!! Wish they'd hurry up and make a good SW multiplayer game again though. Although I doubt we'll see that while EA hold the license...

I am sorry that I missed these posts. The forums are just piggybacking off of my brother's webhosting right now and we are only paying the domain registration fees each year. That said, unless we paid for completely different webhosting, we can't really set up a different domain name to point the forums at since the jediorderclan.com redirect is done via DNS.

I don't think it really makes sense to pay for a separate webhosting package, since the forums are basically just an archive at this point. If we truly want to look into that, I'd be open to taking donations, but to be frank I was getting a little tired of begging for funds every year and moving everything yet again would be a bit cumbersome. Personally, I don't have the spare funds to throw at this in any capacity as I have been going through A LOT of medical issues as of late.
