I am a Christian, and I believe that there is a God. But I do not believe in the church. In my city we hold a strong believe towards 'De Sterre der Zee, also known as Maria. It helped me with some successes I had. Was it only me? Or was it God? Or was it me, being pushed by believing in something? We will only know when our time has come.

Indeed, I think the same master Achilles... but well... we're from the same city and mostly all people think about that the same. Atleast... the younger ones do.

Napoleon once said, religion was invented to keep the poor from killing the rich. Damn right he was.

Encyclopedia of stupid says:
Quote
You see, when monkeys developed sufficiently large enough braincases, they suddenly were able to grasp the concept that they would one day die. This was not something that the monkeys were very keen on, and so they immediately set about imagining scenarios in which this evident truth would be anything but. Religion is, therefore, a way for monkeys to deal with the pain of knowing that they will die, much like other monkeys use drugs and alcohol to accomplish the same task.

The problem with all this is that not all monkeys get along equally well, and they could not accept that everyone would get to have a glorious afterlife, so they invented everlasting punishment for the monkeys they didn't like, referring to them as sinners. Sinners are in Satan's grasp.

The problem with this, of course, is that the monkeys consigned to everlasting punishment by their brethren were busy creating their own schemes of eternal bliss and damnation to inflict upon the other monkeys, and thus was war born.

Another reason religion was invented was to control the behavior of stupid people. For instance, if an old and fat guy told you you couldn't have lots and lots of sex with whoever you wanted because he was jealous of your youthful vibrance, you'd probably laugh him off (and maybe punch him in the face). But if he convinces you there's an invisible, omnipotent deity who agrees with him and who will punish you, then he can control you completely.

I don't want to offend anyone, but I really can't see why everyone can just see the point. The evolution is what created man, not god. There's tons of proof waiting to be shoveled in your faces if you care enough to go to a decent school.

I agree with Xzar, there's nothing helping me doing stuff, and I do think people who think God helps them score goals or pass tests,
are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

It is only your point of view hat determines that. I never said that God shaped everything. On the contrary, I do not believe everything the bible or the church says, that is why I am against the church. But I do believe there has to be a reason for our existence. Every evolution has to start somewhere.

In my opinion its an argument that should be left because you all can argue about what you think etc

But in the end its your own opinion no matter what anyone thinks because you cant change how strongly they feel about something or what they do in every day life.

If you want to argue make sure it doesnt end up in someone getting ban from forums pl0x ;)

You just contradicted yourself then.... as you have not seen aliens.. so how can you believe in them.

lol

PannTher

Uhm, Wookiee's are aliens. Not all aliens have slime... some got hair ;)

But hey, I do believe in aliens. What they look like? Hell would I know, but I know we can't be the only ones in this universe. Maybe we are the only living lifeforms in this system, but who knows how many starsystems there are out there.

Evolution created men, men created God. THere can't be just God, howabout the Vikings? They had several Gods, where are those now? Drinking beer in a pub? Everyone has it's own god. However everyone believes their God is the superior. I just do not believe in these forces. I do not believe in God, not unless I have seen him. And right now, I wonder if Morgan Freeman is going to visit me today.

But hey, this was about a movie.
