Second draft:

It's a dark time for the Republic. The galaxy stands divided. Fear dominates many worlds. After countless fighting, the Jedi stand CRIPPLED and BROKEN, the old temple destroyed and many great warriors lost in the raging battles. The sith have been reborn and their power reaches strengths greater than that of those before them. 

But a brave few remain strong. An old order stands against the growing evil. RESPECT, FRIENDSHIP and HOPE drive the last remaining Jedi to protect and restore the republic, and  furthermore the galaxy.

The JEDI ORDER currently struggles to find worthy HOPEFULS , willing to learn, dedicated to rebuilding the ancient order and committed to bringing peace to the galaxy....

I'd caps JEDI and SITH instead of CRIPPLED and BROKEN.

"have been reborn" sounds... strange? Is there any way to find a shorter version?

Consider adding an adjective to the JEDI ORDER. Glorious? The remnant of? ...

It still doesn't convince me for 100%.

Made the changes you suggested. Tinker around with it if it's still not what you want.

OK, I re-elaborated Tomius's version of crawl, by basically splitting it into three parts: Dark times, New Hope, Our story....

Dark shadows have fallen upon the Republic. The peace
is broken, and fear dominates the worlds. After countless battles,
the JEDI KNIGHTS are scattered throughout the galaxy, while their
temple on Coruscant lies in ruins. The SITH EMPIRE has returned,
more powerful than ever.

But there is still hope. A new order bears from the ashes of the
old one. RESPECT, FRIENDSHIP and COMMITMENT drive the last
of survived jedi masters together to rebuild the old academy on
TYTHON, one of the remote worlds where the new generation
of knights can be trained.

After a long journey from Outer Rim, a young HOPEFUL makes his
way through the forest in the desperate effort to join the cause
and to restore peace and justice....
Tomorrow night (from 8 p.m.) the shooting!
