SWGEmu
« on: August 10, 2011, 11:26 AM »
Anyone else playing it? I'm currently playing on the Liberator, just achieved Novice Teras Kasi. I've gotta say, although this live server is an older version than the current that the test center is, with most features actually working, it's really good fun.

Come join! It'd be fun to play with you guys. http://www.swgemu.com

And on a completely unrelated note:

Is it actually relatively playable now? Last time I tried it you couldn't even get xp or train abilities correctly.

Yup, on liberator! A number of things don't work (a few professions aren't done), but people're playing it like the old days.

Is there a client that I can just download and use? Or do I specifically need the disks and a CD key? Was always interested in playing this, would be nice to see what I missed out on for a little bit.

I never had to use a CD key when I installed (although there is one printed on the back of the case??). So I don't know if you need the key.

They say you need a real original, physical (CD) version of it. I think its because you need the Pre-CU/NGE files. I don't know if using one you get some other way would work. If it was the original version, I don't see why not. But a steam download would probably give you an updated version that wouldn't be compatible. They also tell you to not open SWG before you install their updates, probably for the same reason.

Step 1 - Acquiring Sony's Star Wars Galaxies Installation Media

To setup SWGEmu, you will need ORIGINAL Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) CD’s, yes ORIGINAL, ACTUAL, PHYSICAL Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) CD’s. You can not use downloaded copy from D2D or STEAM, you can not use 14 day trial client or any other trial client, you can not use client obtained through torrent or warez sites. So get yourself ORIGINAL SWG CD’s, you can buy them cheap on e-bay or amazon.com. There are quite a few versions that have been released over the years and any version of SWG will work.

You don't need legit CDs, it's their way of stopping SOE from shutting them down. Rink, check your PMs.
