Anyone follow the MLS?

I am a HUGE TFC supporter and I am worried about the Strike/Lock Out.

Menelaos

Players have some demands, they would like to be able to make some $.

For instance, the lowest paid player for TFC makes $20,000 a year. That is about 1/2 of what I make a year and I am barely making it. Keep in mind the goverment takes 1/3 off for taxes in Canada.

In Hockey, the lowest paid player makes $375,000.

That however is not what they are comparing it to, they are comparing it to soccer around the world where contracts are guaranteed, were there is free agency, where it is the team that owns the player/contract (in the MLS, the league owns the players and pays them, this is unheard of anywhere else in any sport).

Some players like De Guzman in TFC do make a good living in the 2 Mil per year contact, but the majority are in the lower half makinn on average $47 k. That is a salary for a professional athlete?!?!?

As you can appreciate, when they league and owners are making $ hand over fist, well the players would like a little cut.

MLS dodged a bullet. I love DC United but they are looking pretty bad this year

Well TFC has been all over the place this off-season.

For some inexplicable reason, we traded away our defensive midfielder, traded our right-back, traded our centre-back, and did not resign 3 players...oh, and then sent 1 home.

In return, we got 3rd round picks, Labrocca (midfielder) offensive midfielder, and then signed 2 walk-ons.

WTF!?!?!?!

Our problem last year was giving UP goals. So Serioux, our best last year and a CB (which we needed another...) gets traded for a 3rd pick (no player in return!!!), then Wynne (our right-back) who was a solid defender, got traded for Labrocca?? Labrocca won't help back there!!!!!!!
But I guess I should be thankful we kept Garcia...that moron scored twice on our own net last year, and this year has already given up the ball to Columbus so they could score on us.

YUP, great start to the season.
Next week I am going to Boston to see TFC win there...well, at least try to win.
