« on: March 16, 2007, 08:31 AM »
For some reason my computer keeps restarting itselfs :S

Error message comes up saying:

The system has recovered from a serious error.

It keep doing it over and over and this isnt looking good. Sometimes it restarts after about 10 seconds of logging in and others after about 10 minutes.

Could be overheating.

Now, that's strange. Do you have any family who uses the computer also.
It would make most sence if they know how to use the bios. They could have messed with the clocking..

I've had this problem happen to me before.

The things I did were...

A) Try DUSTING out the computer. I dusted mine and nearly choked at all the dust ;D
B) I put a fan next to it while playing, to make sure it wasn't over heating.
C) I had to put a new video card in my comp, the old one got fried.

Hope C doesn't come up. hehe Good luck

^ Yes, PLEASE open the computer up, dust it and if possible get some compressed air and spray around, especially near the heatsink.

This is most likely the reason for the freezing, locking up or rebooting, it happens to pretty much every computer. It's worth a try before doing something as costly as formatting, even if it doesn't work it'll be giving your computer a bit of a clean.

Rootkits are next to impossible to remove completely.
