Watchmen
« on: March 07, 2009, 10:28 PM »
I went to this movie anticipating an epic, once in a lifetime movie. Expecting an X-Men, Dark Knight, Spiderman, or Iron Man kind of movie. In that respect, I found myself disappointed. Still the movie was well made, the special effects were great, the fight scenes were interesting, though a bit more few and far between then I expect from a comic book adaptation. Further, despite being a "superhero" movie, only one person had legit superhuman abilities. The rest are more... Batman-esque. So, if you want some great superpowers... watch Heroes on Mondays and save $8-10.

A couple notes without giving away too much of the plot... I know it's only been out for 2 or 3 days so I don't want to give away too much, but, here are some things I think people need to know before they go and see it.

1) If you have a problem with gore, realistic or otherwise, consider not seeing this movie.

2) If violence or brutality isn't your thing, maybe you consider avoiding it. We're talking realistic brutality, bones breaking, body crushing brutality.

3) If human sexuality, real or digitally created, is a sore spot with you... avoid the movie. To not have the sensors flip out, I'll say only that there is quite a few shots of glowing man junk and a few candid... er... Intercourse scenes... Not a lot, but enough that me and my friends remarked "good movie, too much glowing man junk".

4) The movie is THREE HOURS LONG... Well 2:45... Very, very long. Clear your schedule, don't make any plans, bring a cushion if you can. If you bring your own drink... bring two... Maybe three. Can't be too safe.

I'd say a solid 7.5/10. Not spectacular but... good.

Wow, i disagree, not only did it stay true to its short series, but it had some awesome effects, and fight scenes. The story however lame, was interesting as presented. The setup of the movie, with slow downs and speed ups as jumps between scenes, angles and lighting where beautiful.

It was a movie for the soul purpose of short entertainment, and it did its job.

I would probably not watch it again, but im glad i did.

I own the book, read it years ago.
True, it stayed true....still boring as HELL.

This isn't a movie I'd even recommend renting! Wait until it comes out on TV.

I strongly disagree, definitely worth renting. You'll only watch it once because of sheer length, but it's still worth seeing.

I saw it. I wish I would have been on drugs to make it more interesting though. The movie was decent but it was definatly not as awesome as I thought it was gonna be. I was hoping on another V for Vendetta. I was wrong for sure.

V for Vendetta is an epic movie. Natalie Portman is the hottest bald women since Demi Moore, and Hugo Weaving is wicked as V. I love that movie... Think I might watch that tonight.

V for Vendetta was GREAT!!!

There we can agree. That movie actually was worth watching and required an IQ to understand the subtle shots at society were incredibly well written.

Because I combined yours, your mom's, your dad's and your gf's to comprise my IQ before watching it  ;)

Sure, I still missed a whole bunch of jokes, but considering I was using British intelligence, I think it was the best one could ask for.

Hah, you relied on us and you still couldn't understand most of the jokes? Pfffhh... I think all that snow in Canada has frozen your brain! ;) I'd thaw it out, but it's important for future scientists to dethaw it to discover where the idiocy of man TRULY started.

OH I DIDN'T!
