Are YOU smart enough to help ME?
« on: December 26, 2008, 03:18 PM »
I have a computer.

I tried to connect 2 screens on my computer, but it failed.
I have 2 video cards, and when I connected the screens to a video card. I could only use them seperatly by changing which video card my computer should use in BIOS Setup.

Now is there a way to use them both, at the same time as its supposed too? ( So not as two mirrors :P )

Thanks in advance, Ek.

Depends.  What video cards do you have?  If you don't have the right kind, then its impossible.  If you have the right kind, you might need certain software to set it up.

I suggest you blame Vista, if you don't have Vista, blame it anyway.

A Nvidia Geforce 8800 and the other one... It's a really basic video card without 3D software, don't know the exact name.

1) Your processor needs to support it.
2) Your videocards must have the support to use two screens.
3) You want each monitor to show different things or just the same? If you want different things on another monitor you'd need a program with an extra desktop displayer + Videocard support
4) If you want the same things, just buy a stupid plug for about 20 euro, you put it in VGA and you can insert two monitors in it.
5) Having the same things displayed doesnt require any videocard support.
6) Google is your best friend!

Ehm, going to look for that.

My processor needs to support it? Has that to do with the type, or with the ''strength'' of my processor?

I'd like to have two screens with different ''things'' on it. One desktop and the other one can be empty, anything with the option to drag tabs on it would do.

Is there a way to check if my proccesor and video card support 2 screens?

Thanks alot! :D

Im not quite sure, for one it must be Dual core to handle two tasks at once (running a program that can divide desktops/programs over 2 screens. Try google, its your best friend. ]

Untrue.  I have dual monitors and I don't have a dual core.

Ek, is this what your video card looks like?  nVidia GeForce 8800 GT

If so, then all you have to do is download the driver software from nVidia for it.  You don't even need a second video card.

If not, let me know and try to find a picture of your video card.
