Boléro
« on: June 13, 2007, 05:54 PM »
Anyone know a place where I can get a full orchestral manuscript for Maurice Ravel's song Boléro?

I'm trying to get a hold of one so I can figure out which instruments get what part (especially the backround parts), and possibly convert it into a piece for a wind (brass/woodwind) band.

Preferably, I'd like it to be free....but I don't expect it to be >_>

Yeah, I've checked there...I'm just not sure if any of the pieces offered are full orchestral pieces, as opposed to ones remade for a band....

Actually, thats just string orchestra. I assume you mean full orchestra including the winds and stuff. I'll ask my mom when she gets home. She might know a place that would have it.

If its sheet music then your going to have a very hard time finding it for free for starters as you pretty much have to buy all sheet music i think.

You could try torrents i guess but then thats not really something you should try lol. I'm working in the shop this week (music shop) so ill check it out with my colleagues.

There is a site, my old musician teacher belongs to and they swap sheet music, but you have to be a registered teacher or somthing, but Jedi Sho'Hen is correct, thought it is easy to find tabs they are not in the detail you are looking for, unless the musicians are excellent deciphers

Currently, my best shot is my music teacher's former college, James Madison University. She says she played the oboe d'amore solo in Bolero while she was there. So there is a chance that they still have the music (and, perhaps, an oboe d'amore)
