((inactive)) Application for Poket, Jedi Sage.
« on: April 24, 2012, 01:04 PM »
Character Name: Poket

Why you wish to join the Jedi Order: I have always been into Roleplaying, but have never really given it enough of a chance to get truly immersed into my character. I have roleplayed on other games before but never really had the community to give it back, leading me to always be the only one "IC". After spending the last few months on a PvP server I came to the conclusion that I would be much better suited with friends who share the same ideals as me, the same dedication to their character's story that I try to give mine. I want to join a more "Jedi" oriented guild, as I have always played the "Caster" type class. Ever since the days of Morrowind I have played as a healer, I found my role in the world and I enjoy it. Being a sage compliments every aspect of gameplay and story that fits my playstyle. The choices I make are those I would make in real life and I have modeled my character around that, being lawful, honest, respectful and above all humble enough to know when I am doing wrong. I am in no way a "hardcore Rper", but I am more than willing to take on board criticisms, constructive or otherwise and am always thankful for input. I have spent a few days watching various guilds, players, posts on forums and have come to the conclusion that this is the right guild for me and my overwhelming urge to help my fellow man(or otherwise).

Time Zone: GMT(BST)

Your Class: Jedi Sage, Seer.

Short RP biography of your character: Poket is a lawful sage, always making the decisions that, at first may not always seem right, but will in the end prove to be for the greater good. This does not include senseless slaughter for the sake of the few, nor does it include taking a payoff from a greedy mercenary just to make my life a little easier. However, he will always choose diplomacy over open conflict. Taking the moral high ground when goaded into debates of unethical actions. He will always show respect to his fellow padawans, because in his heart he knows these are his true brothers and sisters. His masters are father figures, there to guide him through hardships with wisdom and council, always to be heard with the greatest reverence. Because someday, he may be the one chosen to guide his brothers and sisters through further hardship. He must be strong for his allies, and respectful to his enemies. Because without respect and honor, there would be nobody to keep the balance in the force.

I don't really have a "short" biography, to understand my sage you have to understand his past.

As a young child, on a lesser known planet in the outer rim. Poket was raised and loved by two caring human settlers. Unknown to them was this child's promising future but still proud of him regardless of his, rather unorthodox, conception.
Poket was born, not the usual way but was rather a gift from the stars. His mother, Roket, was awoken one bright morning to the sound of rustling from the entrance of their domicile. Her husband, Rakil, was away on a hunting expedition at the time.
There stood a man, at least what looked like a man, but he had no eyes. Not that he had them at a previous time in his life, but rather the absence of them to begin with.
He spoke softly, to her as though he was speaking directly into her mind. The man spoke only four words to her before vanishing back into the mid-morning twilight. "He is your son." the man whispered.
Nine months later, a baby was born, however he was born without eyes, just like the mysterious visitor she had vowed not to speak of. Rakil never questioned the odd deformation because the pair had been so elated over the news of the pregnancy that nothing could bring his spirits down.
Quickly however, they began to notice less differences between their son and the other children of the colony. He was capable of doing ordinary tasks that one would think impossible for someone with no sight. He would often bring back wonderful bouquets of native flowers, arranged in the most beautiful fashion that only one with sight would be able to make.
Such a kind heart and a keen adaption to giving more than his fair share of help around the community, Poket was quickly referred to as the "miracle child". Nobody could explain how he was able to play with the other children of the area, let alone compete with them for prowess at athletic tasks.
But this could not last, Roket knew. Her child was different, he was somehow powerful. She could feel it, emanating from him like an aura. No sooner had she decided it was time to tell her son about his conception did the mysterious stranger appear to her once more. This time not while she was half awake, but in the middle of the day. The sun was beating down, the community gathered for harvest, he appeared to them all.
So shocked was Roket that she passed out, knocking over several containers as she fell. Poket stood before the man, staring into the emptiness of his eye-sockets that he felt he should look away so as not to offend. Nobody else had he seen with the same look on his face that he had portrayed his entire life. Not vacant but rather a distant glare, combined with ever a smiling face, like he was trying to concentrate on something far away that pleased him, but was in fact right before his eyes.
The man spoke to the crowd, who had been in a stunned silence at the stranger's arrival since he appeared. "This child is not like you, he is touched with the force. One of my kin who see's not only with his head but with his heart."
Rakil was so confused that this man was talking about his son that he got angry and started accusing Roket of adultery. Quickly the stranger assured him that the boy was his child, but also the child of the force. That both had been key in the creation of one such as Poket.
"I am to take this boy to Tython so that he may begin his training to become a Jedi." the man said. Roket, barely conscious at this point sat upright almost too quickly, adamant that this man wouldn't be taking her only son away from her. To which the man assured her that he would one day return as a fully fledged member of the order, answerable only to The Jedi Council.
Poket looked into his mothers eyes, she looked back at him. They both knew this was what they had both been waiting for, for his entire life. He nodded and she smiled, Poket turned around and faced the stranger declaring "I fight for peace, for honor and for justice. I will return to this place when I have completed my training and I will show my friends and family that even a man with no eyes can do great things."
To this the crowd roared in elated cheers and applause, but Poket did not join them. He simply smiled, barely showing his teeth, bowed to his father and turned to leave with the strange man.

This is where our young Miraluka is today, studying with the masters at the Tython academy. Learning the ways of law, leadership, compassion and humility. Already top of his class, Poket always shows a kind attitude towards his fellow padawans, even when it is not returned to him. He is always respectful towards his master and the other Jedi who frequent the academy, never failing to surprise even the most experienced of masters.
He now turns his attention to the threats of the forests, a tribe of Fleshraiders has been spotted and Poket has been given the task of investigating the cause of such a disturbance to the area.

(I would also like to add that I am yet to choose a last name for this youthful padawan. When I finally decide on one I shall be sure to make it known.)

Welcome to our HoloNet Poket and thank you for your interest in joining us! Please read our Code if you haven't already. You will be invited as a Hopeful in-game, as soon as you are online at the same time as a Master.

As a Hopeful you are not yet a member, but we can get to know to you this way. Remember to have patience while we consider your application. If you have any questions, fire away, either here or in-game.

May the force be with you!

Regards,
Padawan Learner Scalarik

I am most grateful for this opportunity, I hope that in the coming weeks my character will grow and show my masters that my path to the light will be endured with compassion and patience.

Just a query, should I contact a master or will I be invited?

May the force be with you.

Humbly yours,
Hopeful Poket.

You can try to contact a Master in-game, but we will also try to point you to a Master. The sooner we get you invited in-game, the better. ;)

Regards,
Scalarik

PS. A piece of advice: your title isn't a Padawan Learner yet. Before you are accepted it will be "Hopeful", so use that accordingly

Pointing me in the direction would probably be for the best :p

Can't seem to find anybody online from the order.

Yours humbly,
Hopeful Poket.

Try typing "order" in the search on the /who page. You can see that way who are online.

And if you still don't see anyone, then there aren't anyone there. ;) Just remember to have patience :)

I have been searching for "The Jedi Order"  ;)

Unfortunately the only member online who looks like he might be a Master isn't responding. So I'll just wait and meditate over here for a while.

Respectfully yours,
Hopeful Poket.
