For those who are new to JKA, here is the basics of coloring your text or name.
To input a different color, use ^ and then a number for a color. For example ^1*^4<^2JO^4>^1* would be shown as *<JO>*
These are the colors available:
1 = red
2 = green
3 = yellow
4 = dark blue
5 = light blue
6 = pink
7 = white
0 = black
To change your name, open the console (done by pressing shift and the key left to your number 1 key) and type in /name <yournamehere>.

It is, if you don't have the clanpass. Clanpass is for members and allows you to use *<JO>* tags in your name. Contact Master Alexia for the clanpass, if you're a member.

5. Set up your name.

7. Find the master who will give you the password. ONLY THE MASTER WILL GIVE YOU THE PASSWORD.

9. Repeat pass 5.
10. Have fun.

Make sure no one is handing passwords out in the server. Its not as serious of a rule as the past but look like there has been some work put into getting this server going. Doing this will protect it just a little bit.

It is possible to host one at home but also has its problems, having to have PC on all the time, connection issues etc. It is possible though, I tried to do it myself but it won't seem to allow me, nor could I have PC on when I'm not using it.

By the way, the server is taking a long time to download. It just says, "Awaiting challenge" and keeps on loading. It says the server uses Protocol 20-something. Should I also add on the Game Update for JKA as well? Should I also get Protocol 20-something? I really want to get on that server. Someone plz help out. :(

I think JKA has to be patched. That's probably the issue if you have the right mod (JA+) installed.

I'm not sure if I have. I ordered JKA off Amazon, so it's CD-rom. I inserted the disk and had to go through a short downloading process to upload the game to my computer. I haven't downloaded any game updates for it or got Protocol 26. It's all so confusing...

Well, I've got the Update, but it just says it can't load. I've got the right IP, I think. (The one Knight Scalarik mentioned). Is the server shut down because we haven't payed for it? if not, then I feel like not bothering to try to join you all at JKA. It just seems too hard and too complicated. :(

3) Install JA+ mod
4) Install JedicouncilGCX map
If you've done all that, the IP should work. :)

It shouldn't be that difficult, if you follow the steps outlined by Master Alpha. JKA works perfectly on my computer, running Windows 7 (if I only had time to play it). Try running as Administrator and running in compatibility mode for Windows XP, too.
The reason it isn't working, if you haven't done 3 and 4, is that you don't have the mod+map that the server is running.

On the first page of this thread is all the links to the maps that are on the server in the first post, including GCX map. Currently using the standard GCX map as default and not the 2010 one.

All I can say is please do not give up on JKA so easily. We all have gotten it working, so will you.
I know it's confusing with all these patches, mods, maps, skins etc, but you only have to do all this once, and then the game will work without problems. I think I could be able to help you get the game working later today, if you are willing to give JKA one more chance (I'm at work at the moment :P ).

The instructions in the folder that tell you how to install everything. They would be titled "ReadMe" or "installation instructions" or something similar. They'll tell you where to put the files and how to get the mod working. It will be easier to use that than to try to get us to tell you how to set it up.

I'm afriad that I am leaving JKA behind. 1: it simply will not work and is too old for a computer like mine to download properly. 2: I should be too busy with my new guild, The Phoenix Unit, to join you on JKA. I shall never leave the forums behind, though. I know you want to help, but I really want to keep my decision. Thanks for all the help. :)

Yeah, your right. Sorry, I forgot to tell you that JKA DOES work on my computer. I was only talking about multiplayer. The solo multiplayer and campaign work fine. It's just the online multiplayer I was focusing on. Guess I made a mistake there.

I just downloaded JA++ client plugin... WOW! The amount of customization is unbelieveable. The new chat system is awesome, you can use your saber in first person AND it comes with built in minimizer.
I recommend this to everyone!

Uh oh, I crashed it. This time it was really me, spawning a tauntaun, lol.
Edit: There was earlier something strange. I fought the NPC's spawning on R_Academy, and everytime I got a saberlock, I got thrown out.

Very strange, since the map is now on Hyrule Town I can't join the game without crashing. As soon as I click join game once I have connected to the server, my game crashes. Any idea's what could be causing this?

I was able to connect to JK2 server with Hyrule Town, no problem so far!
Are you sure you have the correct version of Hyrule Town, Master?

Put JA+ (Mac version) in the Jedi Academy folder (not base). Additionally you need just the map and maybe skins if the server doesn't let you connect. Look at the first post to see what the server has.

It seems you have to have every map the server has, to be able to join. And autodownload is disabled.

Well, I just bought the game in the app store, went to applications > open in finder > right click on JKA > Show Packages Contents > Gamedata and put all stuff in there.
Now the game says "no japlus_gamemac" or something like that?

As for the Mac JKA... I got my ffa_wov2.pk3 to the base folder, and that seems to be the only map the server was complaining. How strange!

The sv_allowDownload is currently 0, just checked it. Therefor I can't join our server without it allowing me to download stuff. According to the settings, not sure, it's based on the Aspyr Support.
