I'm looking forward to the co-op on 360, and I would normally be looking forward to the multiplayer on PC, but at the moment IW has killed it...

What's the diff between Xbox 360 and PC versions? I'm torn between the two..
-
Normally the PC version is open to maps and mods and the servers are run on a normal dedicated server/server browser combination. Basically, Infinity Ward has said that the PC version will not be open to maps/modding and DLC (official maps added in patches) will now have to be paid for. Multiplayer will run off a matchmaking system similar to xbox live and all connections will be peer-to-peer. This severely limits the normal multiplayer capabilities when it comes to the PC platform, quite a disappointment.

wow that sounds terrible. I have a ps3 so im just glad, although there arent as many people on, that we have free access to internet and the multiplayer part of it.
I think a crossover where ps3 and x-box coop play would be an AMAZING addition

Jesus... talk about completely gimping the PC version, that's awful.
I'll probably grab the game sometime this winter. The multiplayer and ranking system in the first one was very good though.

DARTH RINKXING.
I hate having the Darth thing and wanted to ditch RinkXing, but there's a couple of Irish guys I'm buddies with that have a clan full of DARTHs, so it stays for now, haha.
-
LOL that's awesome. I'll throw you an invite when I'm next on it (it means unplugging my ethernet from my PC, as I only have one ethernet in my room as there are 5 ports in my modem to split between the 5 of us in this house :/)

What's impressive is how everyone's going crazy about the new features and junk, completely oblivious to the fact that at least a third of the game will probably be banned on servers within a month.
But then again, the vast majority of the game's players are idiots anyhow, so I'm not surprised. Simply making the connection between banning grenade launchers and noobs already causes massive seizures.
And if the IWnet thingy cuts down on the aforementioned idiots playing the game (the fools claim they won't buy the game now, but who are they kidding?), then more power to Infinity Ward. Cutting down on morons is the first step in creating a better, more realistic, FPS experience.
-
LMAO!!!
Cutting down on morons? You mean the entire PC community?
All PC clans use dedicated servers. All PC FPS games that use peer-to-peer suck buttocks when it comes to lag and host advantage (far cry 2 or operation flashpoint dragon rising would be good examples here). If you were playing on servers that banned for using noob tubes, you obviously weren't playing on the servers that are hosted by most of the clans involved in the uproar.
Anyways, I'd say educate yourself on the topic before you come in here saying that everyone who is upset about the changes (completely changing the PC Online experience) is a vast collection of morons. I'd write more but I don't feel like it.

I couldn't care less about the multiplayer revamps. The point I make is that most of Call of Duty's players are insolent, cowardly fools, who expect the game to hold their hands and ensure them instant kills, regardless of whether or not they can actually aim. The fact that people whine about and ban the grenade launcher and other weapons/perks is enough reason to view their complaints about a new MP system with a cynical touch.
I don't know nor care much about how this new multiplayer system will keep people in line in the necessary areas, such as racial epithets, so long as it does so. But if it means fewer servers that cater to the moronic mass that is internet gaming, then I give a hearty "Hear, hear."
If the system really doesn't work after all, this can serve as a good lesson to gamers not to purchase a game before you have a full idea on what's going to be in it. No matter how many people sign that petition, the game's already the largest preorder in history, and enough people (even among the complainers) will buy the game that Activision and Infinity Ward can give a wonderful one-fingered salute and a loud "$%!! YOU!" to the negligible people who don't like it.
And you must be very lucky, or I'm very unlucky; I've yet to find a server that allows grenade launchers, let alone someone who can give me a logical reason for banning them or any other weapon/perk.
P.S. I tried to find the server, Alpha, but the I.P. leads me nowhere. So I decided to get Rando mad instead :D

Haha, if I were mad, my post would have been drastically longer.
I find it hilarious that you say this:
The point I make is that most of Call of Duty's players are insolent, cowardly fools, who expect the game to hold their hands and ensure them instant kills, regardless of whether or not they can actually aim.
And still bring up the fact that you can't find a server that allows you to use your noob tube. Which is also funny, because I've only run into about two servers that actually ban for it.
As I've said before, and you've said in your post, you don't know much about these changes. If anything, it's going to bring the mass of retarded 8 year olds off the xbox and onto the PC because it incorporates a matchmaking system based largely off the xbox live system. On top of that, hosts will still be able to boot, so that part of your argument is kinda moot.
This change hits people who play maps and mods the most, as well as people who actually enjoy playing with more than 16 people. Speaking of mods... they don't make the game easier.
Why argue if you admit you know nothing about it?

I'm not arguing for or against. As I must keep stating, the low intelligence of gamers overall makes me skeptical when I hear them moan. The fact that many admins I run into aren't much different has the same effect.
I'm being cynical about this whole thing: if the new system gets rid of these fools, more power to IW. If it doesn't, well, IW has even more reason to make their game into and upgrade of Halo set in the past/present.
And I'm still amazed that I've run into servers that forbid the grenade launcher (noob tube is for the unintelligent) at minimum, and not many that allow it, if what you say is true. I really do have bad luck -_- What truly irritates me, more than the proliferation of those servers, is that no one has a good reason for it. Which is why I laugh at Modern Warfare 2 to begin with, because I know that within a month gamers will be whining about the perks/weapons that they can't be bothered to fight against.
I am NOT voicing support for or against the new mulitplayer system. It'll come, and whatever problems will be dealt with. The eternal constant is the gaming population, which is the driving force behind what Call of Duty is, and why we have to rely on the Eastern Bloc for games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
It'd be like a new Jedi Academy game that doesn't allow mods like JA+ to function. People will moan, of course, and I'd first say "We'll see." But I'd already be jaded by their complaints, since JA+ type servers in the vein of *<JO>* are not, in my opinion, great servers.
*and the thing about making you mad was a joke. I do that*
-
I think it's funny that you could even think that matchmaking would reduce the amount of idiots you play with as compared to actually having a choice where you play.
Why change what isn't broken? Quite frankly, it's people like you that are killing the PC experience for the rest of us.

Haha, if I were mad, my post would have been drastically longer.
I CAN VOUCH FOR THIS!
Lol :)

<3
That is all.
-
i might get it for SP
-
I might buy this game when I get out of poverty.
What excitement can I look forward to if I decide to sell my body and purchase this software?
-
The best FPS ever played, and branded "the most anticipated game of the decade". Huge amounts of variation in the multiplayer department with looooads of types of games (including new 3rd person types) and "special ops" which is loads of co-op missions.
You should have bought it at Sainsbury's mate, £26 it costs! I think it'll probably be out of stock now, but it's worth trying as soon as you get the cash.
-
Just got it for PS3, haven't played it much yet but i've liked it so far :)

I bought it for the PC (bought me and Molly both keys @ $44 each). While it is still fun most of the time, it DOES need dedicated servers. A 3rd party is currently making excelent progress unlocking the dedi code that still remains from the previous games' engines, I'm guessing IW will patch it themselves sometime soon OR steal the code from the 3rd party as they have done with so many other mods.

I didn't buy it on the PC for that reason, mostly. It'd be great if they fixed it for all the PC people. Why on earth did they decide to do that anyway?
