: Your first Star Wars memory
: Tracyn Darasuum November 06, 2007, 09:36 PM
I find it interesting how we all are different ages, genders and are from all parts of the world yet we have something so strong in common - our passion for all things Star Wars. For me it started 12 years ago when I was 5 and my parents rented ROTJ. I couldn't get Jabba the Hutt and the rancor out of my mind so I kept asking them to re-rent it. That's what got me hooked and kept me hooked for over a decade, and hopefully for many more.

What are the first memories of Star Wars that you have and what got you hooked on the greatest thing in the world?

Watching the star wars movie so many times with my friend, that we could do the lines. Well, the first of them. Because we always saw episode 5 I think just when we were about to go to bed. Later it did change to episode 1.. lol

wel this is such an incredibly vague memory now

when i was about 5 we went over my uncle and aunts flat as we usually did on a  saturday night and he found out about star wars and showed us the very first one,IV, on VHS.

watching chewie and han and luke fight the storm troopers and fly the millenium falcon. and then he put the V on and watched a bit of battle of hoth with the AT AT walkers and rebels battle it out and thats what i remember it was great :) thats what got me hooked.

ever since then ive loved star wars and always will

I can remember exactly when it was.  My memory of it is blurred because I was still a little whipper snapper.  But it was 24 and a half years ago or so. 1983.  I was 3 years old and Return of the Jedi was in the theatres.   My mom and my dad took me to see it.  I remember vader, yoda, and jabba da hutt.      And then, for my birthday in 1984, they got me the ENTIRE return of the jedi toy collection with vehicles and what few little buildings they built back then.    Been in love with it ever since.

Ha!   My first time was when Drakes parents got him all three movies on VHS for him for christmas. I think it was...   1988?  Refresh my memory on that Drake, you have a good one, I don't.

Anywho, we watched  Empire first, dunno why, and I was completely infatuated with the wampa snow beast and Darth Vader walking into the echo base all tall and proud and without a single worry of being shot or struck down. Like he was the shizzle.

Ever since then I've loved Star Wars.  Especially the sith.

Bah!

Kids...

My first memory is playing with the very first lightsabers that came out. My cousin is 5 years older, and he had gotten (what was then a flash light with an attachable plastic tube) a couple of lightsabers (all which turned only yellow because the blue/red plastic circle pieces you were supposed to insert didnt work properly) and we used then in his living room.

Menelaos

I honestly don't remember, I've never really been that 'hooked' on Star Wars, was just always interested in the futuristic-ness but mostly the lightsaber combat.

I had a starwars themed birthday party in the park when I was 6 or 7 or so, I invited my entire class and we all ran around doing random things. And I had a cheap plastic vader mask with elastic thing.

I think I ambushed a girl I had a crush on from a bush with my friend, I don't remember that well.

Well, I first saw star wars when I was like 3, and it was Episode four and I didn't really watch the whole thing but then my best friend from Pre-School was asked "Do you like Star Wars?" and of course I said "Yes" and really I had no idea about it so a couple days later he invited me over so we could watch it. First time I saw it all the way through, I've been hooked.

When the special edition came out sometime in the 90's it was being shown again in the cinemas. My dad was really excited about taking me to see The Empire Strikes Back as it was one of his favourite films, I loved it and saw Return of the Jedi when it came to the cinemas a few months later, loved it, like most kids I was really into the lightsaber and space stuff after seeing it, went through the stage of twirling 'round sticks pretending it was a lightsaber for a while.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favourite film, so the memory of going to the cinema with my dad is very fond.

I first saw Star Wars when I was about two or three years old. Mom and dad were watching all three movies back to back, and I was sitting in a play-pen/crib-thing being bored while they watched their adult movies. I think I fell asleep between the end of Ep. V and the beginning of  VI cause I remember hearing "Luke, I AM your father...," blanking out for a little while, looking up and wondering who Luke's father was, and seeing Jabba the Hutt and then going back to sleep satisfied that the big fat monster was Luke's father. Although I did wonder why he never talked in that deep voice again, just made wierd noises the rest of the time.

I think this might actually have been my first memory, and probably the most clear baby memory I have.

Yeah... my first memory was that Jabba was Luke's father. Right.

That's really awesome.

My earliest memory is me lying down in a pram/buggy/whateveryoucallitintheUSA, looking up and seeing my sister and mum fuss me. Not sure if it was a dream I had at that really young age or not, though.

Another one is me racing a friend of mine down an alleyway on our tricycles. It was pointless though because the alleyway was so thin neither of us could overtake unless we had the perfect chance.

I really want to go gokarting again..

First time I ever saw a Lightsaber.

Ben Kenobi, igniting Anakin Skywalkers lightsaber in the small house on tatooine. Ever since that moment, I was fascinated with lightsabers.

Then I just grew to love it all.

It was a week or so before episode 1 was released. Overhere when a new star wars film used to came out, all the others would appear on TV and stuff. So I saw episode 6 on tv. Just the Jabba part in the beginning. But I had to go to bed, lol.
But my aunt had taped it for me, so when I saw the entire movie I was sold
