Thats because it uses the Crytek 2 engine because its made by the makers of far cry. Alough i wonder when far cry 2 will come out.

yeah I dont like the vista thing, that kinda makes me nervous, I can run the game at max but the vista may hang me up considering I dont plan on going vista till i build my next computer, and that is not going to happen for a long while

So what, they think we have have Star wars style technology/computers stashed up in our homes?

Lol yes i would get this, but i dont have enough money to upgrade my computer into something that will just about run this.

Looks awesome though.

: Nejj Evnairis July 16, 2007, 10:40 PM
hahah excellent point Jedi Sho'hen tis game is clearly not for the masses, I was lucky this would run on my computer, but I fear what the price tag will say, seems like everything is getting more expensive.

You don't need Windows Vista for this. So you can play it on XP, without DirectX 10.
: Re: Crysis
: Nejj Evnairis July 17, 2007, 04:17 AM
can you get Dx 10 or would you need vista for that?
: Re: Crysis
: Chrippe July 17, 2007, 10:41 AM
DirectX 10 is Vista exclusive though. But I've seen on some site that they're making a version for XP too. But I doubt that will be finished, or it's not even true it's in progress.

: Nejj Evnairis July 17, 2007, 12:03 PM
bah another way microsoft implies that you should get vista.... anyone using vista is it nice?

I use Vista as it came with my computer. I havent had any problems with it and I find its pretty stable for such a new O/S. Once the SP-1 is released it will be even better and more compatible with things.

As far as Crysis goes, it will be DX-10 exclusive and that means Vista.

No Crysis will support DX 9 and XP as well which is a smart move on Cryteks part.

: *<JO>*Shin-Tetsu August 13, 2007, 05:59 AM
It's the first DirectX 10 game if I recall correctly. But there are problems with the new DirectX.

Never mind what I just said I went to crytek's site and they give them properly.
http://www.crysis-online.com/Information/System%20Requirements/

Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
RAM: 1GB
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Recommended Requirements

: *<JO>*Shin-Tetsu August 13, 2007, 07:09 AM
You hate that dumb what?

I know that those are the requirements, bu the Crysis game was mend for the DirectX engine, but they didn't put it through because the DirectX 10 videocards were given problems.

Crysis will run on both DX9 & DX10 as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista
.

: Re: Crysis
: Ewie August 13, 2007, 07:13 AM
It was originally started developing January 06... DX 10 came out with Vista a year later and they want to hit the broadest audience out there. I always get fooled by that dumb site because it was made by top people but its not an official website. I made a few edits to my post after that. But when you consider that the majority of the populous has DX9 cards. Why make it DX10 only?
: Re: Crysis
: *<JO>*Shin-Tetsu August 13, 2007, 07:19 AM
Engines are always edited later, because the development of the game always takes so long. This is also the case with the new Quake game.
DirectX 10 is the future, all new gen games will run with DirectX 10 and there are now videocards with DirectX 10, but they don't work that well. That is why Crysis turned it back to 9 for the minimal requirements. But if you want to play it at it's maximum, you may need a DirectX10 card.
: Re: Crysis
: Ewie August 13, 2007, 07:22 AM
Alright 2 things Shin.

1 Yea it will look prettier with dx10 cards but thats the only real difference between dx9 and dx10. And Nivida has been sucking with its Vista drivers right now and there cards don't preform well in DX10.

2 Muffin man?
: Re: Crysis
: *<JO>*Shin-Tetsu August 13, 2007, 07:29 AM
Yeh, but there are few videocards who work well with Vista. That is why I still have XP.

Muffins own man, they will take over the world, together with the penguins.
